There are always new activities, restaurants, and things to do on Maui as new businesses pop up across the island. We have organized a list of fun places to try on Maui in 2026 that even the annual returning visitor that thinks they have seen it all will appreciate!

Aloha Rock Gym:

Maui finally has a rock climbing gym, and it is quickly becoming a hub for climbers and fitness enthusiasts alike! The full-scale climbing facility in Kahului features a large space with top rope and lead climbing walls, extensive bouldering terrain, and training areas for strength and conditioning. The gym welcomes climbers of all levels, from beginners trying their first climb to seasoned athletes working on technique, and it emphasizes community and connection through the sport. In addition to routes of varying difficulties, the facility includes classes and workshops. Visitors can purchase a day pass to enjoy the experience.

Aurum:

Wailea’s newest restaurant on the scene is located in the Shops at Wailea and quickly becoming one of Maui’s most talked-about dining destinations. Open daily for lunch and dinner, Aurum offers a refined yet approachable New American menu that highlights the island’s freshest ingredients through a blend of global techniques and local flavors, much of it sourced from Maui farms and fisheries. The space strikes an elegant-casual balance with thoughtful design and warm hospitality, making it a great choice for both special celebrations and relaxed meals with friends or family. Diners praise its creative dishes, attentive service, and welcoming ambiance, with seasonal offerings and happy hour specials adding to its broad appeal in Wailea’s vibrant culinary scene.

Muumuu Maui:

Muumuu Maui is a relaxed, island-casual Italian restaurant recently opened up on the West Side of Maui that’s beloved for its warm, inviting atmosphere and delicious comfort food. Set just up the hill from Ka'anapali Beach, it’s a great spot to drop in after a day of sun or before and sunset stroll, with a menu that highlights classic Italian favorites — think hearty pastas, wood-fired pizzas, shareable starters, crisp salads, and satisfying mains — all served with a touch of Maui’s laid-back vibe. The friendly service and generous portions make it a go-to choice for families, couples, and groups looking for flavorful food in an easygoing setting.

Ohana Pickleball Club:

Serving as Maui’s premier pickleball facility, this recently opened hotspot brings the fast-growing sport to island residents and visitors alike with a laid-back yet vibrant aloha vibe. The club offers 12 dedicated pickleball courts with lighting for evening play — plus amenities like a pro shop, lessons, and space for social games and events, making it a welcoming spot for players of all skill levels. Buy day passes, learn to play, or even join a league!

Lahaina Brewing Company:

Formally known as Kohola Brewing, Lahaina Brewing Company is expanding across the island, now with locations in both Wailea and Upcountry. Born from Lahaina’s rich brewing culture, the brewery offers a wide selection of flagship and seasonal beers — from crisp pilsners to juicy IPAs — often served alongside elevated pub fare that showcases local ingredients and flavors. The brand has deep roots in Maui’s craft beer scene and recently launched initiatives like “Crafted for Community,” where a portion of select beer sales supports local nonprofits and community efforts, reflecting its commitment to giving back to the island it calls home.

Naylor Theatre:

In its heyday, the bustling town of Wailuku used to have seven live theaters where locals could catch a play, performance, movie, or concert. It was the center of performing arts on Maui. Sadly, there is only one theater still in operation in Wailuku, the historic Iao Theater, but a new venue has burst onto the scene! After over a million dollars in renovations, the Naylor Theatre in Wailuku is the new home of the Maui Academy of Performing Arts. Upcoming performances for 2026 include The Revolutionists and Frozen, the Broadway Musical. Enjoy a night out on the town in Wailuku!

Cool Cat Cafe (New Locations):

Cool Cat Cafe on Maui is a beloved, casual 1950s-style diner and burger joint that locals and visitors alike flock to for fun, flavor, and hearty portions. Originally an iconic Front Street Lahaina eatery known for its hand-pressed Angus burgers and retro vibe, Cool Cat Cafe rebuilt in South Maui’s Kukui Mall in Kīhei after the devastating 2023 wildfires, bringing back its classic menu and welcoming atmosphere. The menu features a wide variety of favorites beyond their award-winning burgers — including fish and chips, blackened fish tacos, sandwiches, salads, vegetarian choices, and boozy milkshakes — all served in a laid-back space perfect for families and groups. They have also maintained their West Maui footprint with a Cool Cat Express option in Ka'anapali's Whaler's Village food court.

Miso Phat:

Founded in 2013 and rooted in over 20 years of restaurant experience, Miso Phat has built a strong sushi reputation on the island for hand-picked daily fish prepared into a wide variety of nigiri, sashimi, specialty rolls, and temaki hand rolls that appeal to both locals and visitors alike. A brand-new flagship restaurant has just opened in Kihei fronting the Maui Coast Hotel. Don't forget about the original location in Kahana or the second Kihei location in Azeka Mall.
