Upcoming date: February 6, 2026
7:00 PM - 9:30 PM
The Revolutionists is a bold, witty, and irreverent historical comedy by playwright Lauren Gunderson that reimagines the French Revolution through the eyes of four fierce women in 1793 Paris. Set during the turbulent Reign of Terror, the play brings together real historical figures — the playwright Olympe de Gouges, the assassin Charlotte Corday, the deposed queen Marie Antoinette, and the Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle — as they grapple with revolution, legacy, art, and activism while navigating the chaos of a society obsessed with guillotines and political upheaval. Equal parts sharp satire and heartfelt exploration of female empowerment, The Revolutionists blends humor with history, spotlighting how these women strive to make their voices heard amid violence and oppression, and offers audiences a humorous yet thought-provoking look at how we actually go about changing the world. See the performance is Maui's newest theater, opened in late 2025 after millions of dollars in renovations.
