Offered by Maui Walking Tours LLC, the Kihei walking tour is a guided, mile-long jaunt through the rich history of Kihei and South Maui. Held every Monday and Wednesday starting around 5 p.m. (varying seasonally), the one-and-a-half hour tour starts infront of the Kihei Public Library and meanders past significant sites, concluding at sunset by the ocean. Participants learn about the Hawaiian inhabitants that originally called the area home, the impact of the US military during World War II, and the tourism boom of the 1960s and 1970s. The tour's narrative is based on extensive research and interviews with members of the community to to share engaging stories.
