Hit the Slopes

~5-minute walk

Too obvious? The pairing of Vail’s winter and skiing or snowboarding is as good as it gets. With 195 runs and over 5300 acres of skiable land, Vail is the fourth-largest ski area in North America. Not considered to be a very technical mountain, Vail is kid-friendly and a great place to learn to ski or snowboard. But don’t fret experts! 53% of Vail’s runs are black diamonds, including the picturesque Blue Sky Basin, known for its challenging terrain and secluded feel. It's a great area for those seeking a more adventurous skiing experience.

Sleigh Rides

~30-minute drive (depending on vendor)

An equally great activity for a romantic date for two or an experience for the whole family, taking a sleigh ride in Vail creates a storybook ending for any day of your visit. While there are multiple providers in the area, like 4 Eagle Ranch and Bearcat Stables, sleigh rides usually always feature a dinner component—not to mention sips of wine and/or whiskey for the adults. Dress warm, enjoy the starry skies, and book in advance!

Apres at The Amp

~1.7 miles, 5-minute drive

Concert season? Nope, in Vail, musical events take place all year round. Taking place at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater—The Amp—Apres at the Amp is a yearly, two-night electric music festival. Although it is a fairly new event, when compared to The Amp’s Summer Concert Series, Apres has already been able to attract well-known talent like Jungle, Sofi Tukker, Goth Babe, and Polo & Pan. The amphitheater is outdoors and takes place snow or shine, so come prepared!
