The St. John’s Kula Festival is a beloved upcountry Maui tradition hosted annually by St. John's Episcopal Church in Keokea. First held in 1982, the event has grown significantly, now drawing thousands of attendees who gather to enjoy a vibrant lineup of local entertainment, crafts, and food. The festival features live music, performances by groups such as the Isle of Maui Pipe Band and Halau Hula Wehena o ke Ao, and a variety of family-friendly activities including a Kidz Zone, pony rides, and a quilt show. Visitors can also explore a large silent auction, shop for baked goods, fresh produce, and handmade crafts, and savor popular local dishes like chow fun and homemade fudge. The festival not only supports the church’s ministries but also donates proceeds to a different local charity each year. With its strong sense of community and deep roots in upcountry Maui, the St. John’s Kula Festival is a much-anticipated event that exemplifies the island’s spirit of abundance and aloha.
